Every now and then I order badly. This was one of those times.
I was hungover. I’d been to a dress fitting. It was wayyyy hotter than the weather man had predicted and I was dressed for early spring – hot and bothered is an understatement.
Wandering around China town I knew that I wanted dim sum and Dumpling Legend was calling me.
First up, of course, was some pork puffs. So far so very very good. We then had chicken siu loung bao, crystal prawn dumplings, vegetable spring rolls and the ground pork rice bowl (with tofu).
On the whole the meal was good. The pork rice bowl was very good. Hot and sticky and comforting. Just what was needed. The crystal prawn dumplings however were not. They just didn’t taste of anything apart from some Chinese cabbage. Having had one bite I put them to the side and enjoyed the rest of my lunch – but you always wonder how good it would have been if you’d just got that one dish right!
